Another Night

My heart within calls out to Him,

In the silence of the night it cries

As I chase after sleep this night

All I can think of is Him.

Though I wish to always only

Focus fully on God, my Lord,

I mean to change, to put aside time

But then comes morning and life.

I spend the day chasing my goals

My good intentions long forgotten

From when I wake till again I lay

My mind is full—too busy to think.

Then again I am laying in darkness,

Chasing after the sleep I so want

Yet inside, my heart is crying

Another day has passed without His Word.
